Most people just worry about the smell, but skunks do real structural damage by undermining foundations and porches.

What our customers say about skunks

"I definitely recommend using Acorn Wildlife Solutions. We called about a skunk problem and Tom came over the same day and took care of the problem. Unfortunately, a skunk was able to get in and die in our basement. Tom found it and removed it. He also recommended a professional product that we could buy to help remove the lingering odor. Thanks, Tom."

"We had a skunk family(amongst other animals) burrow under our house. I’ve never had to deal with anything like this, but quickly found out there are not many resources out there. I’m thankful I came across Acorn Wildlife Solutions. Tom is great! Professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful. He was quick to assess the situation and solve it, even when we weren’t home! If you are facing a situation like ours, give Tom a call. He can help!

Highly recommended"

The Danger Zone (The Hidden Threat of Burrowing Skunks)

While the threat of an blinding, foul-smelling spray is what panics most homeowners, skunks pose a more permanent threat to your property's structural foundation. As natural burrowers, they look for low-clearance spaces to dig extensive networks directly beneath your home.

  • Foundation & Structural Undermining: Skunks love digging deep tunnels beneath concrete porches, backyard sheds, stairs, and decks. Over time, this constant excavation shifts the soil, causing structures to crack or sag.

  • Severe Odor Hazards: If a skunk feels threatened by a pet, a lawnmower, or a family member walking near its burrow, it will discharge its spray. The oily musk can seep into your home's crawlspaces, flooring, and ductwork, lingering for months.

  • Lawn Destruction & Disease: Like moles, skunks will aggressively tear up pristine lawns looking for grubs, leaving messy patches behind. They are also a primary carrier of Rabies and secondary parasites like fleas and ticks in our area.

The Acorn 3-Step Skunk Exclusion Process

Step 1: Burrow Tracking & Entry Mapping We locate the primary entry holes beneath your deck, porch, or foundation to map out the active underground nesting area.

Step 2: Trench-Trapping & Humane Extraction We deploy specialized, covered traps (so the skunk cannot see us and spray) to safely and humanely capture and remove the animals from the property.

Step 3: Under-Deck Exclusion Screening To ensure no new skunks move into the empty burrow, we dig a trench around the perimeter and install a heavy-duty, L-shaped steel mesh barrier beneath the ground line, permanently locking them out.
